Review of Disney World’s Contemporary Resort

Contemporary reviewOne of the newly renovated Deluxe resorts, the Contemporary is an ultra-modern resort with unique architecture. The rooms are nicely updated, has great on-site restaurants, monorail access, and Magic Kingdom views.

Some of the best features of this resort includes:

  • Walking distance to Magic Kingdom, or take the monorail that travels through the hotel
  • On-site character dining at Chef Mickey’s
  • High-end restaurant and lounge choices
  • Large rooms with comfortable beds
  • Great views of the nightly fireworks
  • On the shore of Bay Lake with a beach and recreation options
  • Large pool with water slides and cabanas
  • Newly remodeled, so everything seems fresh and new

The resort has a couple not-so-great features, which include:

  • No on-site child care
  • Shares bus service to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, water parks, and Downtown Disney with other monorail hotels.
  • Rooms with Magic Kingdom views are expensive

We have season passes to WDW so I’m interested to see your opinions on the Disney hotels. On a whole we have found that our favorite hotels in the area, especially for the money, are some of the on-property non-Disney resorts. The Hilton Bonnet Creek has far better pools than the Disney hotels and is far cheaper. It is right behind Hollywood Studios on property without the crazy high price. I sound like a Hilton employee, but I’m really not.

I’m a HIlton fan too and stay at Hilton hotels often! I’m staying at the Hilton near the Orlando airport next week before we head to Port Canaveral for our Land and Sea vacation. This trip we are going to stay at the Art of Animation for the first time. I’m not as familiar with the on-site non-Disney owned hotels, but from what you say, they should be looked at as great options. Thanks!
