Review of Disney World Fort Wilderness Cabins & Campsites

Fort Wilderness ReviewThis is a nice way to step out of the hustle and bustle of the busy parks and sprawling resorts. At Fort Wilderness, you’ll feel like you’re in a campground and roughing it (almost!). There are campsites and RV sites, along with cabins. The cabins have a double bed, bunk beds, a kitchen, and bathroom. There are some advantages of staying here, as well as some disadvantages.

The best things about this “resort”:

  • Very informal and low-key
  • Lots of recreation options nearby
  • Children’s play areas and special programs
  • Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show
  • Shower and toilet facilities for campsites

The not-so-great things about this “resort”:

  • Isolated location does not offer many dining or entertainment options
  • Slow bus service and long walks
  • Not very private, just like real campgrounds
  • Very far to travel to stores or restaurants
  • Campsite layout is vast and confusing to some – lots of walking required
  • Expensive to rent a golf cart to transport around the campground
  • Lighting in cabins are not very good in the evening
  • Kids running around everywhere can get noisy
