Disneyland Hotel Review with Pros & Cons

The Disneyland Hotel is the iconic hotel to stay at during a trip to Disneyland. The rooms and public areas are decorated with Disney-themed art and has been modernized over the years. There is a 5,000 sq ft pool in the center of the hotel done in a Peter Pan theme, and is complete with Captain Hooks pirate ship. It is located right at the end of Downtown Disney so you may walk through Downtown Disney to reach the park entrances or take the Monorail to Disneyland Park. There are several pros and a few cons to this hotel, as described below:


  • Close proximity to Downtown Disney and is the closest hotel to the monorail that takes you into Disneyland Park
  • Goofy’s Kitchen character meal
  • Nicely themed pool area with a water slide
  • A number of food options, including quick service and table service
  • Unique shopping area
  • Disney-style superb service and cleanliness
  • Top-notch décor and amenities


  • Expensive – you’re looking at $300+ per night compared to off-site hotels
  • Longer walk to the park entrances compared to some off-site hotels
  • No free breakfast, as found in some off-site properties
